Properties and ingredients of the maitake medicinal mushroom
Maitake grows on tree roots, usually on old oak roots. With its large fruiting body consisting of many small gray to gray-brown felt caps, the mushroom can easily adapt to its environment, making it often difficult to recognize in the wild.
In addition to essential minerals and trace elements such as iron, zinc, potassium, and magnesium, maitake contains high levels of ergosterol, a precursor of vitamin D2. The mushroom also contains riboflavin, niacin, thiamine, biotin and folic acid. However, maitake is most valuable for its beta-D-glucan polysaccharides.
Maitake in research and practice
There are some very interesting applications and research directions for maitake, including strengthening the immune system and even preventing diabetes. The mushroom is also used to support weight and blood pressure regulation.

The substrate used to cultivate maitake consists of 70% sawdust mix, 20% organic wheat bran, 8% fresh soil, 1% cane sugar (conventional quality) and 1% natural gypsum.
